COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Each week during the 2015-16 season a Maryland student-athlete, who has shown excellence on and off the playing field, will be selected as the Solomon Eye Associates Terp of the Week. This week's Solomon Eye Associates Terp of the Week is head coach Missy Meharg of the Maryland field hockey team.
Meharg became the fourth Division I head coach to reach the 500-win mark with the Terrapins' 6-2 win at Miami (Ohio) Sunday. In her 28 years as head coach, she's led Maryland to seven NCAA titles, 16 Final Fours, 20 conference championships, and has been named NFHCA National Coach of the Year an unprecedented nine times. Her career record is 500-122-9 (.800).
She's coached 43 All-Americans, 13 conference players of the year, seven National Players of the Year and five Olympians. Her Terrapins have earned over 143 NFHCA National Academic Squad selections and over 230 Conference Academic Honor Roll honors.
