ROSEMONT, Ill. – After leading the Terps to two wins in the final week of the regular season, senior outside hitter Adreené Elliott was tabbed the Big Ten Co-Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday afternoon.
Elliott posted 33 kills on a .291 clip last week. Against Iowa on Senior Night last Wednesday, she led the match with 20 kills while matching a career high with five service aces. Elliott posted three solo blocks against the Hawkeyes, becoming the program leader in career solo blocks (99).
At Northwestern in the season finale on Saturday, Elliott again led the match with 13 kills while serving three aces. The Winson Salem, N.C., native also notched 13 digs last week.
Elliott averaged 3.54 kills per set this season, good for fourth in the Big Ten. She averaged 0.51 aces per set in conference play, leading the Big Ten. In addition to being the solo blocks record holder, Elliott ranks second all-time with 1,424 career kills and is in the top 10 of four other categories.
Elliott shares the weekly honor with Minnesota's Sarah Wilhite. She is Maryland's second Big Ten honoree after Angel Gaskin was named Big Ten Co-Freshman of the Week on Nov. 9.
