COLLEGE PARK, Md. – University of Maryland Director of Athletics Kevin Anderson is set to be inducted into the San Francisco State Alumni Hall of Fame Friday, Nov. 6.
A 1979 graduate of San Francisco State, Anderson will be inducted along with Sherry M. Hirota and Daniel Sullivan. Additionally, Major General Barbara Lavis Brannon and Honorable Mu Sochua will be honored as Alumnae of the Year.
Under Anderson's leadership, the Maryland athletics department successfully transferred into the Big Ten Conference and also pioneered “The Maryland Way Guarantee,” becoming one of the first Division I institutions to offer a lifetime degree guarantee for student-athletes in all sports.
Anderson currently serves on the board of directors for the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA). He also served as the organization's president in 2012-13.
In August 2014, he was among seven inductees into the NACDA/John McLendon Minority Scholarship Foundation Hall of Fame. A year later, Anderson was honored with the Golden Anniversary Award for his work with the John McLendon Minority Foundation.
The SF State Alumni Hall of Fame was created in 1994 to honor alumni who have distinguished themselves through extraordinary achievements in their professional and civic endeavors.
