COLLEGE PARK, Md. --
Two-Way Likely: Junior utility man William Likely started on both sides of the ball today for the first time in his career. He led the Terps in rushing, gobbling up 56 yards (including a career-long 43-yard run) on three carries. He is just 12 yards away from becoming the first defensive-based Maryland player in history to reach 3,000 all-purpose yards
Ngakoue in the Backfield: Junior defensive end Yannick Ngakoue had a 0.5 sack, becoming the first Maryland player in 30 years to post 11.0 sacks in a single-season. The last Terp to achieve the feat was Bruce Mesner, who finished with 12.0 sacks in 1985.
Ngakoue Part II: Ngakoue is just 2.0 sacks away from tying the single-season sack record (13.0) set by Mark Duda (1982) and Bruce Palmer (1978). Ngakoue is currently tied for sixth on the Maryland single-season list. He is also tied for fourth on the career sack list with 19.0.
Tackling Tandem: Through just nine games, Yannick Ngakoue (12.0) and redshirt junior defensive tackle Quinton Jefferson (10.5) are the first Maryland tandem to tally at least 10.5 tackles for loss since 2004 - Shawne Merriman (17.0) and Chris Kelley (13.0).
