
Terps Tangle With #17 Purdue, #8 Nebraska

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Coming off an upset win over No. 12 Ohio State, the Maryland volleyball team returns to the XFINITY Center Pavilion for matches against No. 17 Purdue and No. 8 Nebraska this week.
• The Terps (13-15, 3-11 B1G) and Boilermakers (18-7, 9-5) tangle Wednesday at 6 p.m. The match will be live streamed on BTN Plus and included in the B1G Volleyball Extravaganza on BTN.
• Maryland hosts Nebraska (20-4, 11-3) Saturday at 7 p.m. in the Pavilion. The match will be live streamed on BTN Plus.
• The Boilermakers and Huskers are the fourth and fifth straight ranked opponents for the Terps.

• Wednesday's match is Maryland's Faculty/Staff Appreciation Match. University of Maryland faculty and staff may claim up to four complimentary tickets to the match.
•Fans can purchase a Buddy Pack ahead of time for Maryland-Nebraska, which includes two tickets, two sodas and two popcorns for $15. The team will sign autographs following the match vs. the Huskers.
• Parking lots surrounding XFINITY will be open for both matches this weekend without needing a permit.

• Season tickets for Maryland volleyball are available online at umterps.com. Tickets for the Terps' 16 matches in College Park are $40 for adults and $25 for youths (3-17) or seniors (62+).

last time out
• The Terps took down then-No. 12 Ohio State in straight sets last Friday. Maryland notched its first win over a ranked opponent since a 3-2 win over No. 22 Florida State on Oct. 17, 2010.
• Senior outside hitter Adreené Elliott led the Terps with 18 kills and four service aces. Freshman outside hitter Liz Twilley posted 10 kills while freshman opposite hitter Angel Gaskin notched five kills and a career-high five blocks.
b1g volleyball extravaganza
• The Big Ten Network will debut a unique look at the country's premier volleyball conference with the B1G Volleyball Extravaganza Wednesday, beginning at 7 p.m.
• The show will feature live look-ins at all 14 Big Ten volleyball teams competing in seven conference matches throughout the evening. The whip-around coverage will join the Purdue at Maryland match.
• Maryland's full match vs. Purdue will be live streamed on BTN Plus.
gaskin named b1g co-freshman of the week
• Opposite hitter Angel Gaskin was tabbed as the Big Ten Co-Freshman of the Week, the conference announced Monday. Gaskin earned Maryland volleyball's first-ever player of the week honor since joining the Big Ten.
• Against top-ranked Penn State, Gaskin posted 11 kills on a .381 clip and added two blocks as the Terps challenged the Nittany Lions in four sets.
• The Tampa, Fla., helped lead Maryland to an upset win over No. 12 Ohio State, setting a career high with five blocks and adding five kills on .214 hitting. Gaskin combined with Ashlyn MacGregor for the match-winning block vs. the Buckeyes.
Scouting the purdue boilermakers
• The Boilermakers fell in straight sets to No. 8 Nebraska before rebounding with a five-set win over Iowa last week.
• Purdue ranks second in the Big Ten in hitting percentage (.267) and assists per set (13.19) and is third in kills per set (14.07).
• Annie Drews leads the Boilermakers and is second in the conference with 4.20 kills per set. Faye Adelaja and Danielle Cuttino both rank in the top 10 in the conference for hitting percentage. Setter Ashley Evans paces the team and is fourth in the conference with 11.34 assists per set.
• The Boilermakers topped the Terps in four sets on Oct. 3. Senior outside hitter Adreené Elliott led the match with 21 kills on .415 hitting against Purdue.
Scouting the nebraska huskers
• The Huskers are on a four-match winning streak with all matches being decided in three sets.
• Nebraska leads the conference with 14.30 kills per set and 15.92 digs per set.
• Outside hitter Annika Albrecht is tied for the Big Ten lead with 0.35 service aces per set. Middle blocker Amber Rolfzen ranks in the top 10 in the conference for hitting percentage and kills per set and leads the Big Ten with 1.61 blocks per set. Libero Justine Wong-Orantes ranks third in the conference with 4.60 digs per set.
• The Huskers swept the Terps on Oct. 31, in Lincoln, Nebraska.
all about that ace
• The Terps have proven one of the best in the Big Ten in serving, posting 1.43 service aces per set. Maryland has 144 total service aces on the season, 20 more than the next team.
• Senior outside hitter Adreené Elliott ranks eighth in the conference with 0.26 service aces on the season. All but two of Elliott's service aces have come in conference play, and she is averaging a Big Ten-best 0.5 aces per set in 14 conference matches.
• Five Terps are averaging at least 0.20 service aces per set: Elliott (0.26), Kelsey Wicinski (0.24), Abigail Bentz (0.23), Amy Dion (0.22) and Ashlyn MacGregor (0.21).
terps set xfinity center pavilion attendance record
• Maryland set a new XFINITY Center Pavilion attendance record with 1,752 fans as the Terps fell to No. 9 Illinois last Friday.
• The previous attendance record was set on Sept. 16, 2006. The new attendance record ranks fourth in Maryland history.
• Since Steve Aird became head coach prior to the 2014 season, the Terps have set five of the top-10 attendance records in program history.
elliott, dion reach career milestones
• Senior outside hitter Adreené Elliott posted her 1,000 career kill against Morgan State in the Terps' season opener vs. Morgan State. Elliott ranks sixth all-time in Maryland history with 1,255 career kills.
• Senior DS/libero Amy Dion reached the 1,000 digs mark at Oklahoma. Dion currently ranks eighth all-time in the Maryland record books with 1,093 digs.
maryland Surpasses 2014 win total
• With a win over Rutgers, Maryland reached 11 wins on the season, passing last season's 10 wins.
• Maryland began the 2015 season with nine straight wins, marking the team's best start to a season since 2005.
• The Terps opened the season with three straight-set wins for the first time since 1997.
