Hey Terps Fans!!
After returning from Penn State last weekend, the Terps were ready to get back in the gym and work hard to keep showing the Big Ten what we are made of. At practice this past week we really focused on positivity and being grateful for every opportunity we have as GymTerps. This week we decided to shift our mindset and focus on how lucky we are to be here and most importantly to do what we love to do everyday. I think that's what is best about being apart of this Maryland team-- we all love what we do, and we are all truly grateful for every opportunity we are presented with. I think that really shows in our team's work ethic and drive inside and outside of the gym.
That being said we came into the gym Sunday ready to work and prepare for our trip to Iowa. After finishing up a light practice, we were given a day off on Monday. Monday also happened to be the start of our spring semester. It was nice to have a relaxing day off to get set for the semester ahead and take some time to get organized. On Tuesday and Wednesday we were back in the gym ready to take on two awesome days of team events and head into Iowa fully confident and ready to roll.
We traveled on Thursday and it was our first fly meet of the season and first-ever for the freshmen. As much as I love competing at home, going to new places is also just as fun. It's really to bond with everyone on the team. I stayed with Karen this weekend and it was so fun to room with her again!
The meet at Iowa on Friday was a blast! We were all really in the zone and we scored our team season high which was awesome! Also, huge shout out to Abbie Epperson for her 9.9 on bars and Leah Slobodin for her first time competing for the Terps and scoring a 9.8 on beam!
All in all it was such a great week for us and we're all really excited to get back into the gym and prepare for our next meet. Being a part of such an awesome team is such a blessing and so much fun! We strive to climb higher every week and we all want to show our new conference what were made of. We are ready to make history and we want all of you to be there for the ride!
Don't forget our PRIDE meet is this weekend, February 7th at 7 p.m. in the XFINITY Center! This meet means a lot to our team and our school, and I hope everyone can come out and show some Terrapin pride and help us beat Michigan!!!!
