Hey Terp Fans!
It's been an awesome week for us Terps! We had a productive week in the gym gearing up for our quad meet at Rutgers. We traveled on Friday, and let me just say the ride to New Jersey felt too familiar for me. As a native of New Jersey, I've taken that trip so many times before. With that being said, this meet was really special to me. Since I came to Maryland as a freshman, I have been waiting to be able to compete close to home.
So many memories were brought back when I walked into the Rutgers gym, one of them being my very first meet ever. However, I have learned that it's not always about where you are; it's about who you are with. Although it was definitely awesome to compete in my home state, it was even more heartwarming to have so many people there supporting me. I had about thirty family members and friends cheering on my team, and I couldn't be more thankful. Because this is my senior season, that was one of the last meets that some of my family would ever see me competing in. It means the world to me to look up into the crowd and see all of the people who have supported me since the beginning. You can say that it was an exciting and emotional day to say the least.
As for the meet itself, we dominated. We had numerous flawless routines, and stayed confident and loud throughout the whole meet. Our fan base was incredible, especially since Dominiquea had a huge New Jersey crowd as well. We left the meet with three wins, one being another B1G win, and one of our highest team scores thus far. I am very proud of this team, as we are improving each meet. We have the potential to accomplish great things, and this past weekend has certainly motivated us going into the upcoming week. Of course, it was also Valentine's Day and we were all so lucky to be able to spend it with each other.
To top it off, along with our wins, Maryland Baseball, Softball, Lacrosse and Basketball all earned a big W each, as well! This week, we are practicing with a purpose for our Pink Meet this FRIDAY at 7PM in the Xfinity Center, where we will compete for those who have been touched by breast cancer. Wear your PINK, and bring your PRIDE.
Stay humble, stay proud.
Love,
Stephanie :)
