
Epperson Tabbed As Big Ten Specialist Of The Week

ROSEMONT, Ill. – Maryland freshman Abbie Epperson was named Big Ten Specialist of the Week the conference office announced Monday. Epperson's honor marks Maryland gymnastics' first-ever weekly award as a member of the Big Ten conference.
The Allen, Texas native registered a career day in the Terrapins' dual-meet verus conference opponent Iowa last Friday. The freshman posted a career-high score of 9.900 on bars, tying the 10th best score in school history, while taking the individual crown on the apparatus.
“Abbie [Epperson] had a beautiful routine on bars,” Head Coach Brett Nelligan said after the meet on Friday, “You could just see it in her eyes when she walked out on to the floor today. She has a lot of confidence and right now, it's showing.”
Epperson also tallied a 9.850 on vault, tying a career-high. Epperson along with teammates Katy Dodds and Shannon Skochko shared the individual title on the apparatus.
Maryland (1-4, 1-2 B1G) returns home this Friday, Feb. 7, to take on #5 Michigan at 7 p.m. ET. Friday's meet marks the annual PRIDE meet for the GymTerps. Admission is free.
