AUGUSTA, Ga.—The Maryland women's golf team wrapped up the eighth annual 3M Jaguar Intercollegiate at Forest Hills Golf Club, tallying a total score of 314 for a three-day total of 922.
Senior Juliet Vongphoumy finished in 15th place in the individual field with a total score of 223 (+10) and junior Heidi Baek finished 35th with a total score of 230 (+17). The duo shot a 74 and 81, respectively, in the third round.
Transfer Brooke Kochevar finished 48th with a 233 overall in her first action with the Terps. Panitta Yusabai wrapped up with a three-round score of 238 for 58th place and Jessica Gregory tied for 65th with a 245.
Coastal Carolina finished in first place with a total of 867, followed by Kennesaw State (873), Furman (873) and GRU Augusta (878).
Lena Schaeffner, of Coastal Carolina, finished first in the individual field with a score of 209 (-4), followed by Taylor Totland, of Furman, who finished with a score of 210 (-3).
“We played well in the second round and the team did a good job staying positive and focusing on their process which resulted in a good round,” head coach Diana Cantu, who's squad shot a 298 in the second round, said. “The team has to build on that. Juliet (Vongphoumy) had another consistent tournament even though she struggled with her ball striking, but she stayed into her process and committed to her shots which resulted in a top 15 finish.
“We will head to Pinehurst for a few days to work on our games and get ready for next week's event in South Carolina,” Cantu said.
The Terps look to bounce back at the Briar's Creek Invitational in John's Isle, S.C on March 23.
