The Maryland women's golf team spent some valuable time in Pinehurst, N.C., working on team chemistry both on and off the course during spring break last week.
The team left College Park on Wednesday morning and practiced that afternoon. The Terps then played course #1 at Pinehurst on Thursday and Friday. The rounds will help the Terps next fall when they head back to Pinehurst for an event hosted by the College of Charleston.
"It was great for the team to take a good look at what we will be playing next October,” head coach Diana Cantu said.
The Terps had dinner at the one of the team's favorite restaurants on Wednesday - Bonefish Grill. The team worked off the good food on Thursday with a Zumba class, followed by a game night on Friday and a team-viewing of the movie Insurgent.
“The main objectives of this trip were to have fun, get some golf in, and enjoy our time with the team," Cantu said. “A lot of people in the area asked us about our season and were very excited about Maryland's move to the Big Ten. We have supporters everywhere. It's definitely a great time to be a Terp! "
The 2014 men's and women's US Open were both played at Pinehurst #2. Pinehurst has nine different courses and the Terps look forward to playing on others in the future.
