XFINITY Among Nation's Most Sustainable Arenas

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – As the University of Maryland women's basketball team continues competition on the hardcourt in the NCAA Tournaments, it is the University of Maryland as a whole that has been crowned champion of the SaveOnEnergy.com March Mania Bracket.

On a mission to crown the “Nation's Greenest University,” the University of Maryland was tabbed the number one overall seed by SaveOnEnergy.com. The Terps were true to their seed, defeating Kansas, Duke and Virginia en route to defeating Louisville in the championship.

A remarkable 90 percent waste diversion rate and the field's second highest percentage of LEED-certified construction sealed UMD's number one spot in the rankings, which they've reinforced by enacting countless green initiatives and being the only tournament team to earn gold status as a Bicycle Friendly University.
