Melville, LaFond Qualify for NCAA Championships

INDIANAPOLIS -- University of Maryland track and field student-athletes Amber Melville (high jump) and Thea LaFond (high jump, triple jump) will be among the participants that will compete in the 2015 NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Indoor Track and Field Championships.

The NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Track and Field and Cross Country Committee announced the field this week. Both Melville and LaFond are multi-time All-Americans and will look to challege to top honors in their final indoor campaigns.

Melville recently won Maryland's first-ever Big Ten Individual title at the 2015 Big Ten Indoor Track and Field Championships. Melville jumped 6'1.25 to take the high jump. She also earned first-team All-Big Ten honors.

LaFond nabbed third in the high jump with a mark of 6'0”. The Silver Spring, Md., native took second in the triple jump, third in the long jump and sixth in the 60m hurdles final. Her triple jump mark of 43'5.25 was a season best and she was named to the All-Big Ten second team.

The NCAA Championships will be held March 13 and 14 in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

ESPN3 will stream the meet live on March 13 and 14 starting at 7 p.m. ET. A tape delay of the championship will air March 23 starting at 7 p.m. ET on ESPNU.
