
Terps Hit NYC for Maryland in Manhattan Event

NEW YORK - The University of Maryland Alumni Association hosted the sixth annual Maryland in Manhattan event with approximately 400 attendees on Thursday, April 23 at Gotham Hall in New York City.
The memorable evening raised support for the University of Maryland and alumni programming and outreach. Maryland in Manhattan is the University of Maryland's signature New York event. The evening of celebration and networking has become a Maryland tradition, drawing hundreds of alumni and friends, university leaders, faculty, deans and athletics coaches.
The evening featured cuisine by several of New York City's finest restaurants, a variety of spirits and an exciting silent auction.
“It was great to be in NYC with all our fans and alumni,” head football coach Randy Edsall said. “This was a fantastic event at Gotham Hall and we really appreciate all the support from the alumni."
"This was an awesome event to bring together a lot of Terps from Connecticut and New York region,” head field hockey coach Missy Meharg said. “The energy of the city really brings to life the pace of athletics at Maryland now that we are in the Big Ten. It was great to be here…big stage, big event."
Attendees at this event included University of Maryland President Wallace D. Loh, Director of Athletics Kevin Anderson, men's soccer coach Sasho Cirovski, football coach Randy Edsall, field hockey coach Missy Meharg, men's basketball coach Mark Turgeon and Dexter McDougle, former Terrapin and current cornerback for the New York Jets. Amy Eichhorst, executive director of the Maryland alumni association, was also in attendance.
“The Maryland in Manhattan event is a really good idea,” Rich Novak, class of 1962, said. “It gets better every year. It's going to be a successful night for the University."
Bonnie Bernstein, sportscaster and vice president of content and brand development for Campus Insiders, served as Master of Ceremonies. Bernstein graduated from Maryland in 1992.
The event was co-chaired by Joseph Brancato (Class of 1980), Paul Schulman (Class of 1990) and Edward S. Stein (Class of 1981).
