ROSEMONT, Ill. – University of Maryland senior goalkeeper Rachelle Beanlands, senior midfielder Sarah Fichtner and senior defender Erika Nelson were named to the Big Ten players to watch list, the conference announced Wednesday.

Beanlands enters her fourth year in goal for the Terps. The Canadian notched six shutouts and played every minute between the posts for Maryland in 2014. Her goals against average of 0.86 was a career best and ranked sixth in Maryland history.

Fichtner was Maryland's Big Ten Sportsmanship Award honoree last year after starting all 18 games and with a goal and an assist.

Nelson was a key part of the Terps' stingy backline that gave up just 17 goals in 2014. She also notched a goal.

Maryland was also picked to finish seventh in the conference in the Preseason Coaches Poll. The 2015 season officially kicks off on Friday, Aug. 21, with all 14 conference teams in action.
