Program Coordinator

The Program Coordinator will be part of a progressive team of professionals whose primary responsibility will be to provide a wide array of academic support services to a diverse group of NCAA Division I student-athletes. The successful candidate will provide day-to-day oversight of the ASCDU tutorial support and study hall programs of approximately 100 tutors and part-time staff in two facilities. Specific duties will include, but are not limited to: oversight of the ASCDU tutorial support program specific to recruiting, hiring, training, education, and scheduling of tutors and other part-time support staff; oversight of the hiring and implementation of both Writing and Math specialists; the compilation and distribution of tutor no-show reports; and other duties as assigned. The Program Coordinator will be required to collaborate with ASCDU staff in the ongoing teaching and development of effective study skills strategies to a caseload of assigned student-athletes. In addition, the program coordinator will maintain and provide the necessary resources related to study skills and learning strategies while assisting in the implementation of appropriate and effective study techniques and strategies leading to academic success. The successful candidate will also assist in the recruiting process meeting with prospective student-athletes and parents when requested.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree desired. At least 2 years of experience in post-secondary educational institutions. Must have the ability to work effectively with a diverse student population, excellent communication and organizational skills, and the ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends. Familiarity with NCAA and Big Ten Conference rules and regulations required. An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be substituted for the degree. Master's Degree preferred, ideally in Higher Education, Special Education, Counseling/Advisement, or related field. At least 2 years of experience in academic support services in athletics working with student-athletes; experience in teaching learning strategies and other study skill instructional techniques; experience working with various components of the GradesFirst software preferred.
