COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Five members of the Maryland gymnastics team received National Association of Collegiate Gymnastic Coaches/Women (NACGC/W) Scholastic All-American honors, the association announced this week.
Recent graduates Karen Tang and Shannon Skochko received the honor along with rising juniors Nikki Chung, Nicole Dragon and Sarah Faller for the 2014-15 academic year.
Skochko was named a scholastic all-American for the fourth straight year with a 3.83 grade-point average. Chung paced the Terps with a 4.0 GPA as she earned the honor for the second consecutive year. Tang also received the honor for the second time in her Maryland career.
In order to be named to the team, student-athletes must earn a year-long or cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher.
The Terrapins continued to increase their overall GPA as the team posted a 3.223 cumulative grade-point average, up from 3.19 in 2013-14 and 3.17 in 2012-13.
