For Openers: Maryland improved to 2-1 on the season, while USF fell to 1-2. The Terps are 2-0 all-time against USF in a series that began in 2014. USF was held to 17 points in both games.
Rowe Steps Up: Redshirt junior quarterback Caleb Rowe threw for four touchdown passes in his first start since Oct. 26, 2013 against Clemson. He is the first Maryland quarterback to throw four TD's in a game since Danny O'Brien against NC State on Nov. 27, 2010. He was also the first Terps to throw for four TDs and three INTs in a game since Joel Statham against Duke on Sept. 24, 2004.
Rowe Part II: Rowe finished the game with 297 passing yards – the most for a Maryland quarterback since he threw for 332 yards against Virginia on Oct. 12, 2013. Rowe also threw for 225 yards in the first half – the most since C.J. Brown had 237 against FIU on Aug. 31, 2013.
Davis Stars Defensively: Senior cornerback Sean Davis had two interceptions and a forced fumble in the game. It was the first time a Maryland player had two INTs in the same game since Dexter McDougle against Uconn on Sept. 14, 2013. Davis now has five career interceptions.
No Fly Zone: The Maryland secondary held USF to just 60 pass yards. The last time the Terps held an opponent under 65 yards passing was against West Virginia on Sept. 21, 2013.
Sack Masters: The Terps racked up 6.0 sacks in the game – the most since notching 7.0 at Virginia Tech on Nov. 16, 2013. It's the most sacks at home since 6.0 against Virginia on Oct. 1, 2005. The Terps have totaled 14.0 sacks through three games. Roman Braglio had a career-high 2.0 sacks in the game to lead the team.
Tackles for Loss: Maryland also totaled 11.0 tackles for loss in the game – the most since totaling 13.0 at NC State on Nov. 30, 2013. Also the most at home since Oct. 1, 2011 (Towson). Roman Braglio had a career-high 2.5 tackles for loss in the game.
Jacobs Hits Century Mark: Redshirt junior wide receiver Levern Jacobs matched his career-high with eight receptions, totaling 107 yards. It was his third career 100-yard performance and first since Marshall on Dec. 27, 2013 in the Military Bowl.
Edwards Doubles Up: Tight end Avery Edwards became the first Maryland true freshman to score two touchdowns in a game since Stefon Diggs against Georgia Tech on Oct. 3, 2012. It was the first and second career touchdowns for Edwards.
Offensive Notes: Sophomore Taivon Jacobs scored his first career touchdown and caught a career-high 82 passing yards … freshman D.J. Moore made his first collegiate start … freshman Jahrvis Davenport made his first career collegiate appearance … senior Brandon Ross scored his 11th career rushing touchdown and 13th overall … Kenneth Goins scored his first touchdown since James Madison on Aug. 30, 2014.
Defensive Notes: Senior Jefferson Ashiru had nine tackles – a personal-best at Maryland … Roman Braglio had a career-high seven tackles.
