KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Led by freshman Ludovica Farina, the Maryland women's golf team finished in 10th place among a highly-competitive field at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championships Tuesday.
Farina finished tied for 18th after posting a team-season low of 69 in the final round on Tuesday. She finished with a 219 overall.
Panitta Yusabai tied for 34th (76-76-74) with a three-round tally of 226. Heidi Baek slid to 54th (74-73-81) on Tuesday after leading the squad through two rounds Monday.
Rookie Ludovica Scandroglio tied for 57th (73-79-77) while Alexandra Papell tied for 63rd (77-75-80).
"I saw a lot of good things this week," head coach Diana Cantu said. "We played a tight course that needed smart play and mental toughness. We improved in our games from last week and that's huge.
"We have to keep learning and improving every week. We played two very tough fields the past two weeks and now will be heading to Pinehurst where we can have a higher finish with good play."
The Terps return to action on Sunday, Oct. 11 when they head to North Carolina for the Pinehurst Challenge.
