BALTIMORE – Six current and former members of the Maryland women's lacrosse team were selected to compete for the U.S. Women's National Team on a foreign tour in England this summer, as announced by US Lacrosse Thursday.
Current seniors Taylor Cummings and Alice Mercer were named to the team alongside former Terps Alex Aust, Brooke Griffin, Katie Schwarzmann and Megan Douty.
After the 36-member U.S. team competed in the Team USA Spring Premiere last weekend, the roster was trimmed to 24 players for the foreign tour.
The U.S. team will travel to Surrey Sports Park in Guildford, England from June 28 to July 4 and is expected to play games against England, Scotland and Wales. Surrey Sports Park is the location for the 2017 Federation of International Lacrosse World Cup.
The United States have won the last two World Cups in 2009 and 2013. Schwarzmann was a member of the 2013 championship team.
Maryland is tied with North Carolina for most players on the team. Cummings and Mercer are two of just four players still competing collegiately.
