
Trey Edmunds Transfers to Maryland

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Maryland head football coach DJ Durkin announced that running back Trey Edmunds has transferred to Maryland and will be eligible to play immediately as a redshirt senior in 2016 after having graduated from Virginia Tech.
Edmunds, a Danville, Virginia native, played in 32 career games with 10 starts at Virginia Tech. The 6-foot-1, 216-pound Edmunds racked up 957 yards and 13 touchdowns on 234 career carries with the Hokies. He also caught 20 passes for 158 yards with two scores.
His best season came in 2013, when he rushed for 645 yards and 10 touchdowns on 166 carries.
Trey's father, Ferrell Edmunds, Jr., was a tight end at Maryland form 1983-87. He was a third round pick of the Miami Dolphins in the 1988 NFL draft. He played from 1988-94 for the Dolphins and Seattle Seahawks and was a two-time Pro Bowl selection in 1989 and 1990.
Trey Edmunds graduated from Virginia Tech in December with a degree in multimedia journalism. He ended his Hokie career by scoring Virginia Tech's final touchdown in its Independence Bowl victory over Tulsa.
