
Terps Host Hawkeyes for Pink Meet Sunday

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland gymnastics team hosts Iowa for its home debut in the XFINITY Center Main Arena on Sunday at 2 p.m.
• Sunday is the Terrapins' Pink Meet and fans are encouraged to wear pink to support breast cancer awareness. A silent auction will be held in Heritage Hall with proceeds benefiting breast cancer research.
• Maryland will host its inaugural 'Brunch with Brett' Sunday. Fans are invited to enjoy refreshments in Heritage Hall prior to the meet, where head coach Brett Nelligan will host a short pregame chalk talk.
• Fans who can't attend in person can watch on BTN Plus or follow along with live stats. Updates will also be provided on the team's Twitter, so follow along!

• Freshman Macey Roberts led the Terps on two apparatuses and sophomore Abbie Epperson set two new career highs but the No. 25 Maryland gymnastics team fell, 195.425-193.150, to No. 23 Minnesota on Jan. 16.
• Roberts turned in impressive performances on balance beam and floor, leading the Terrapins with a pair of 9.775s. Epperson set new personal bests on beam (9.775) and floor (9.725).
•Senior Kathy Tang finished second on vault with a 9.775. Epperson placed second in the all-around with a 38.975.
scouting the iowa hawkeyes
• The Hawkeyes upset No. 25 Ohio State with a 196.375 last weekend.
• Senior Alie Glover paced the Hawkeyes with a trio of bests on vault (9.800), beam (9.825) and floor (9.900) against the Buckeyes. Junior Angel Metcalf registered her own trio of bests on vault (9.775), beam (9.875) and floor (9.825).
• Iowa is currently ranked No. 29 nationally. The Hawkeyes rank 24th nationally as a team on floor (48.670), 25th on vault (48.735) and 26th on bars (48.670).
• The Terps fell to the Hawkeyes, 195.725-195.275, last season in Iowa City.
maryland-penn state rescheduled
• The Maryland gymnastics team has rescheduled its meet vs. Big Ten rival Penn State for Monday, February 22 at 7 p.m. in the XFINITY Center.
• The Terrapins and Nittany Lions were originally scheduled to compete Sunday, but were postponed due to Winter Storm Jonas.
Terps announce beauty and the Beast event
• The Maryland gymnastics and wrestling teams will host their second annual Beauty and the Beast event on Sunday, February 14 at 2 p.m.
• Maryland hosted 2,091 fans for the inaugural Beauty and the Beast event last season, creating an incredible environment for the competing athletes.
• Admission is free to Beauty and the Beast. After the event, fans can participate in an autograph session with the wrestlers and gymnasts. Fans are also encouraged to stick around for a special showing of Finding Nemo on the XFINITY Center videoboard.
Epperson, Tang tabbed by big ten
• Senior Kathy Tang and sophomore Abbie Epperson were named Maryland's Gymnasts to Watch by the Big Ten Conference last month.
• A well-rounded gymnast, Tang competed on all four apparatuses in 2015. Tang placed 19th on vault at the 2015 Big Ten Championships and tied for 16th on floor at the NCAA Regionals.
• A freshman standout last season, Epperson competed on vault and bars in every meet in 2015. Epperson tied for fifth on vault at the Big Ten Championships and 12th on bars at the NCAA Regionals and was named Big Ten Specialist of the Week on Feb. 2, 2015.
• Defending conference champion Michigan was named the favorite in the Big Ten Preseason Coaches' Poll.
terps announce 2016 schedule
• After posting the team's highest NCAA finish in 14 years last season, the Maryland gymnastics team once again faces a challenging schedule in 2016.
• Six of Maryland's opponents finished the 2015 season ranked by GymInfo, including No. 6 Michigan, No. 9 Nebraska, No. 13 Penn State, No. 14 Illinois, No. 17 Minnesota, No. 19 Arkansas, T-No. 23 Iowa and No. 25 New Hampshire.

maryland posts highest ncaa finish since 2001
• The Terps finished the 2015 season on a high note as Maryland finished third at the NCAA Auburn Regional, the program's highest finish since 2001 with a 195.150.
•Maryland posted a 48.950 team score on vault and hit 23 of 24 routines. The Terps did not count a fall at the regional.
