PINEHURST, N.C. - The Maryland women's golf team finished third at the 2016 Pinehurst Challenge on Tuesday.
Senior Panitta Yusabai finished tied for sixth (76-71-71/218) to lead the Terps.
After struggling through the first two rounds, freshman Xiaolin Tian scored a 69 Tuesday to finish tied for 10th (74-77-69/220).
Sophomore Ludovica Scandroglio tied for 19th with a 226 (77-72-73/222). Lauren Salazar tied for 41st (76-73-77/226) and Ludovica Farina came in tied for 50th (75-74-79/228).
“Panitta is building confidence in her game with shooting under par the last two rounds,” head coach Diana Cantu said. “Xiaolin came in for us today with a great three-under par round.
“I'm excited about what's to come for this team being that we finished third place without playing our best golf this week. There's a lot of work for us to do before our last event of the fall in Louisville. Our goal is to finish the semester strong.”
The Terps return to action with the Cardinal Cup on Oct. 23.
