Terps Announce 2017 Schedule

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The Maryland gymnastics team is looking forward to a challenging 2017 slate as head coach Brett Nelligan announced the Terps' schedule on Tuesday.
 
“We're really excited to start competing,” Nelligan said. “We have a lot of great competition next year, including some really exciting meets in College Park. I think our fans will have a lot of fun watching the team this year.”
 
The Terps will be led by seniors Sarah Faller, Emily Brauckmuller and Leah Slobodin this year. The Terrapins also welcome a strong freshman class, including Canadian national team member Kirsten Peterman and Junior Olympic Nationals competitor Alecia Farina.
 
Maryland opens the season against West Virginia on Sunday, January 7, at 1 p.m. The Terrapins will be competing at the same time as Maryland wrestling in the programs' annual Beauty and the Beast meet.
 
The Terps host their first quad meet of the year with Minnesota, Arizona and Alaska on Saturday, January 14. Maryland travels to Penn State for a dual meet on Saturday, January 21 before taking on Iowa in Iowa City on Sunday, January 29.
 
The Terrapins compete against Rutgers, Yale and Penn on Saturday, February 11 in Piscataway, N.J., before taking Washington, D.C. against George Washington, Iowa and Pitt on Friday, February 17.
 
Maryland returns to the XFINITY Center Main Court to host Kentucky, Penn and William & Mary on Sunday, February, 19. The Terps travel to Philadelphia for a meet against Temple, George Washington, West Chester and Southern Connecticut State on Friday, February 24.
 
The Terrapins travel to West Virginia to face the Mountaineers and Iowa State on Sunday, February 26, before hosting their final meet of the season against New Hampshire, Temple and West Chester on Wednesday, March 1.
 
Maryland competes in the annual B1G Five meet in Champaign, Ill., on Saturday, March 11. The Big Ten Championships will be hosted by Rutgers on Saturday, March 18.
 
NCAA Regionals will take place on Saturday, April 1. The NCAA Championships will take place in St. Louis, Miss., from April 14-15.
