CHARLESTON, S.C. - The Maryland women's golf team finished play at the highly-competitive Cougar Classic Tuesday.
Freshman Xiaolin Tian led the Terps with a two-under par for the three-day tourney (73-68-73/214).
Sophomore Ludovica Farina shot a +3 ( 70-74-75/219) to tie for 34th overall.
Ludovica Scandroglio (74-75-75/224) and Lauren Salazar (75-74-75/224) each tied for 70th with a +8. Panitta Yusabai wrapped up the Terps' performance with a +10 (75-74-77/226) to tie for 83rd.
The Terps finished 13th overall with a +16 (880) through three rounds. A year ago, Maryland capped the Cougar Classic in 19th place with a 941.
“Overall we had a decent tournament,” head coach Diana Cantu said. “This field was very strong and even though we didn't have the strong finish we needed, there was still tremendous improvement on last year's performance.
“This team is strong. We just need to keep working hard and believe in our abilities in order to consistently play as well as we are capable of.”
The Terps have a quick turnaround before competing in their fourth event of the season at Pinehurst Oct. 10.
