Sophomores Gordon Wild and Amar Sejdic each scored as the Terps (17-0-2) moved their winning streak to 14 games, the longest stretch in program history. Maryland has not lost since falling to Ohio State in Columbus on Oct. 31, 2015 – a stretch of 24-straight matches.
Wild put Maryland on the board first at 16:05 when he scored from just outside the 18 for his 16th goal of the season. Jake Rozhansky's hard-working play and dish provided Wild with the assist – his eighth of the year.
Sejdic slotted his seventh goal of the 2016 campaign in the 61st minute to give Maryland a two-goal cushion after the ever-active Rozhansky drew a penalty in the box.
Michigan State (13-5-1) managed an own goal in the 86th to avoid the shutout.
“I thought it was a very good overall performance for us,” head coach Sasho Cirovski said. “We were connected throughout. We showed the energy, focus and determination was what was required in a challenging semifinal matchup against an opponent like Michigan State.”
Maryland will play for a fifth-straight tournament championship Sunday against Wisconsin at Grand Park at 2 p.m. on the Big Ten Network.
