Terps Represent at NCAA Final Four Events

NORFOLK, Va. - Maryland field hockey seniors Welma Luus and Emma Rissinger participated in the Victory Sports Tours/NFHCA Division I Senior Game Saturday at Old Dominion's Powhatan Sports Complex, the site of the Final Four.

Luus and Rissinger were two of 38 seniors selected for the game. Twelve additional student-athletes were named alternates.

An NFHCA Second-Team All-American in 2015 and the 2016 Big Ten Player of the Year, Luus helped Maryland to its third straight Big Ten regular season title this year. She led the team with 15 goals and 38 points this season.

Rissinger had six goals and shared the team lead with 11 assists this season. Since redshirting as a freshman in 2012, she played in all 93 games in her four-year career at Maryland.

Saturday night, former Terrapin standout and associate head coach Dina Rizzo was inducted into the USA Field Hockey Hall of Fame in Norfolk, Va.

Rizzo competed on the U.S. Women's National team for seven years and made 157 international appearances for Team USA. A Beijing 2008 Olympian she also played in the 2006 World Cup. She was a member of the silver medalist 2003 Pan American Games team and played in two Olympic Games qualifiers and one World Cup qualifier.

As a player at Maryland from 1998-2001, Rizzo was a member of the 1999 National Championship team. She was named a first team All-American, All-ACC and to the NCAA All-Tournament team in 2001.

As an assistant with the Terrapins, she helped them to the 2010 and 2011 NCAA titles, two ACC titles and two Big Ten titles.
