COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Maryland wide receiver/return specialist Teldrick Morgan has been named Big Ten Special Teams Player of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday.
Morgan returned a punt 83 yards for a touchdown midway through the first quarter to help the Terps top Rutgers, 31-13, on Saturday. The senior day win made Maryland bowl eligible for the third time in the past four seasons.
Morgan's punt return touchdown was the first for the Terps since William Likely III had an 85-yard punt return touchdown against Bowling Green in 2015. Morgan ended the day with three punt returns for 113 yards.
Morgan joins Ty Johnson (offensive) and Lorenzo Harrison III (freshman) as Terps that have won Big Ten weekly awards in 2016.
Maryland last had a player earn Big Ten Special Teams Player of the week when Likely garnered the honor on Nov. 2, 2015.
