
Tian, Mills Sign with Terps

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The University of Maryland women's golf team has completed its second signing class under head coach Diana Cantu. The class includes local product Sydney Mills as well as international standout Xiaolin Tian.
Sydney Mills
Severna Park, Md. (Archbishop Spalding High School)
Mills Highlights:
· Led Archbishop Spalding to IAAM Girls Golf championships two seasons
· Won the IAAM individual crown in 2015 after going 38-31 for a two-round final of 69
· Won AJGA Old South qualifier with a 75 in 2015
· Finished eighth at the 2015 AJGA at Old South (73-77-77)
· Took 10th at the AJGA at Talbot (77-76-74)
· Was 38th out of 78th at the AJGA Girls championship (79-74-78) in 2015
· Shot 73-70-75 at the PKBT Girls Open championship to finish third overall
Cantu on Mills: “We are really excited about adding a Maryland native to our roster. Sydney has shown great improvement and growth within her game the past two years. She is a great player and excellent student, who will excel both on and off the golf course. Sydney will bring a ton of Maryland Pride to ur team.”
Xiaolin Tian
Hohhot Nei Mongol, China (IIS Alessandrini – Milan, Italy)
Tian Highlights:
· Lowest Round of Golf - 69
· Finished in second place at the Dutch Brabants Open with a final round of 69
· Took second at the 2014 Trofeo Internazionale Umberto Agnelli
· Registered a 10th place finish in the stroke play portion of the Spanish Ladies Amateur Championship and made it to the quarterfinals of the match play portion of the tournament
Cantu on Tian: “Xiaolin is a very talented player who will come in and have an immediate impact. She is a strong, athletic player who does a great job managing her game and the golf course. Xiaolin has a lot of international competitive experience that will help her transition well to college and take our program to new heights. We are super excited to add her to our Terp family.”
