
Terps Host #11 Arkansas Friday

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland gymnastics team hosts No. 11 Arkansas on Friday at 7:30 p.m. in the XFINITY Center.

LAST TIME OUT
• Despite standout performances from junior Sarah Faller and freshman Macey Roberts, the Maryland gymnastics team fell, 194.850-194.425, at XFINITY Center Sunday afternoon.
• Faller recorded a 9.700 or better to lead off the Terps on three events while Roberts notched a personal best 9.800 on vault before returning for floor to nab a 9.825.
• Other notable performances included Kathy Tang's 9.875 on vault and Evelyn Nee's 9.800 on beam.
• An energetic crowd of 2,192 was on hand to witness the event, topping the “Beauty and the Beast” attendance from last season.
scouting the ARKANSAS RAZorbacks
• Arkansas has competed against top-15 teams in all seven of their meets this year. The Razorbacks fell to No. 2 Florida with a 195.975 last week.
• Amanda Wellick ranks 10th in the country with a 9.886 average on vault. She has never scored under a 9.800 on the apparatus this season. Wellick scored a 39.300 in the all-around last week against Florida.
• The Razorbacks posted a season-high 196.700 on Jan. 15 against Georgia.
• This is just the third all-time meeting between the teams, with both previous meets coming in 2012. The Terps and Razorbacks competed in the Florida Quad Meet and the NCAA Regional against each other.
freshmen key to terps' success
• All five of Maryland's freshmen have made impacts to the Terps this season.
• Megan McClelland has competed in every meet, entering the rotation bars, beam and floor and has a personal best of 9.850 on bars. Macey Roberts has seen time in the lineup on vault, beam and floor, tallying highs of 9.800 on vault and 9.900 on floor.
• Alex Robinson and Amanda Bertorello have made their way into various events. Shyenne Agaran is scheduled to make her season debut soon after exhibitioning in the last two meets.

maryland-penn state rescheduled
• The Maryland gymnastics team has rescheduled its meet vs. Big Ten rival Penn State for Monday, February 22 at 7 p.m. in the XFINITY Center.
• The Terrapins and Nittany Lions were originally scheduled to compete Sunday, but were postponed due to Winter Storm Jonas.
• The meet will be live streamed on BTN Plus.
Epperson, Tang tabbed by big ten
• Senior Kathy Tang and sophomore Abbie Epperson were named Maryland's Gymnasts to Watch by the Big Ten Conference last month.
• A well-rounded gymnast, Tang competed on all four apparatuses in 2015. Tang placed 19th on vault at the 2015 Big Ten Championships and tied for 16th on floor at the NCAA Regionals.
• A freshman standout last season, Epperson competed on vault and bars in every meet in 2015. Epperson tied for fifth on vault at the Big Ten Championships and 12th on bars at the NCAA Regionals and was named Big Ten Specialist of the Week on Feb. 2, 2015.
• Defending conference champion Michigan was named the favorite in the Big Ten Preseason Coaches' Poll.
terps announce 2016 schedule
• After posting the team's highest NCAA finish in 14 years last season, the Maryland gymnastics team once again faces a challenging schedule in 2016.
• Six of Maryland's opponents finished the 2015 season ranked by GymInfo, including No. 6 Michigan, No. 9 Nebraska, No. 13 Penn State, No. 14 Illinois, No. 17 Minnesota, No. 19 Arkansas, T-No. 23 Iowa and No. 25 New Hampshire.

maryland posts highest ncaa finish since 2001
• The Terps finished the 2015 season on a high note as Maryland finished third at the NCAA Auburn Regional, the program's highest finish since 2001 with a 195.150.
•Maryland posted a 48.950 team score on vault and hit 23 of 24 routines. The Terps did not count a fall at the regional.
