
Big Ten Champs Honored at Men's Hoops Game

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Big Ten regular season and tournament champion Maryland field hockey team was honored at halftime of the men's basketball game vs. Purdue Saturday at the XFINITY Center.
The Terrapins enjoyed the game with their family and friends and were met by a rousing ovation at halftime from the Maryland faithful.
The Terps earned a record of 19-4 this season, sweeping the Big Ten regular season and tournament titles. They made the program's 21st straight NCAA Tournament appearance this season, marking the longest current active streak in the country.
Head coach Missy Meharg was named Big Ten Coach of the Year for the second straight season and NFHCA Regional Coach of the Year.
Sarah Sprink was voted Big Ten Player of the Year and Linnea Gonzales earned the Big Ten Freshman of the Year honor. Anna Dessoye and Sprink were named NFHCA First Team All-Americans and Welma Luus and Gonzales were named Second Team All-Americans.
