
Giles Named B1G Freshman of the Week

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Midfielder Jen Giles of the No. 1 Maryland women's lacrosse team was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week Tuesday.
Giles scored twice and added an assist in the Terps' 20-5 win over Hofstra last Saturday. The Ellicott City, Md., native also picked up three ground balls and one draw control.
Both of Giles' goals came on free positions. This is her first career multi-goal game.
Giles is Maryland's third Freshman of the Week honoree. Goalie Megan Taylor earned the honor last week while midfielder Caroline Steele was named Freshman of the Week on Feb. 16.
The Terrapins have had a huge impact this season from its freshman class, which features 10 players. The class was ranked No. 2 by Inside Lacrosse.
The Terps (4-0) face a tough battle next as they travel to No. 3 Syracuse (6-1) this Saturday, March 12. The teams will face off at noon on ESPN3 in the Carrier Dome.
