LONDON - Former Terrapins Katie (O'Donnell) Bam and Jill Witmer have been named to the USA Field Hockey roster for the upcoming Champions Trophy tournament beginning Saturday at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in London. The Champions Trophy features seven of the top six teams in the world.
"In field hockey, for men and women, the Champions Trophy, is the tournament to attend," Terps head coach Missy Meharg said. "It's the top teams in the world, right before the Olympic Games, which gives those countries an opportunity to see their opposition, to look at game management and possibly make final selections for their Olympic squads. Team USA is so fortunate to be there and this will be great preparation."
Seventh-ranked Team USA will open the Champions Trophy Saturday at 7 a.m. ET vs. No. 3 Australia. The U.S. will take on No. 2 Argentina at 7 a.m. ET Sunday, then will play the top-ranked Dutch team Tuesday at 1 p.m. ET.
The Americans will face No. 6 Great Britain at 1 p.m. ET Thursday, then will play No. 4 New Zealand at 9 a.m. ET on Saturday, June 25. The finals will be held on June 26.
