COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Head coach Diana Cantu and the Maryland women's golf program has announced the signing of graduate transfer Lauren Salazar.
Salazar played in all 20 tournaments during her first two seasons at Clemson and was a freshman on the Tigers' 2014 NCAA Tournament squad. A two-time All-ACC Academic selection, she was Clemson's top golfer in terms of stroke average as a sophomore (75.89) and boasted a 75.69 career stroke average while at Clemson. She earned a degree in Finance from Clemson in May.
“Lauren is a big addition to our Terp family,” Cantu said. “She will definitely help improve our program and keep moving it in the right direction. She has competed at the highest levels and her three years of collegiate experience in a competitive program will be a huge help to our team.
“I'm very excited to have Lauren join us and cannot wait so see what she can accomplish at Maryland. “
A native of Santa Clara, Calif., Salazar was a four-year letterwinner at Archbishop Mitty High School where she qualified for the USGA Junior Girls Championship in 2010 and 2011. She boasted 12 American Junior Golf Association Top 10 finishes, eight top five finishes and two championships in her career.
