Associate Director for Annual Giving

The Associate Director is responsible for assisting in the development of strategy and the implementation of a comprehensive, collaborative, and sustainable Annual Giving program for the University of Maryland Athletic Department. In partnership with the Associate AD for Development and External Services, responsible for developing a strategic communication and solicitation plan for all annual giving donors utilizing the available mediums (e.g., print, electronic, phone, social media) and available partners for collaboration including the University Relations, Alumni Association and Athletic Department teams (e.g., Marketing, Ticket Office, and Media Relations).
Responsible for a high level of communication, and must be able to solicit, cultivate and steward Annual Giving donors in person, online and on the phone; Collaborate with Annual Giving team to coordinate and execute the Annual Giving solicitation calendar and the production of materials associated with the timely delivery of the following: solicitation materials, event promotions, stewardship materials, annual renewals, giving reminders, account updates, etc.; Work with team members to create solutions, ensure that projects move through to implementation, and identify areas where annual fund operations can be improved and streamlined; Responsible for developing and implementing innovative and creative strategies for the solicitation of suites and mezzanine seating at Maryland Stadium; Manage priority points program including updating/reconciliation of points along with periodic calculations and communications of point total requirements for donor experiences (parking, ticketing, etc.); Manage game-day donor parking logistics to include communicating parking request process, lot assignments, and timely follow through/resolution of parking inquiries; Work with the Maryland Athletics coaches to support the annual giving strategies of their sports specific giving programs.
Bachelor's degree required. Three (3) to five (5) years of experience working in a development or sales related environment required. Ability to set priorities, handle multiple assignments and deadlines, and display good judgment while operation in a flexible and professional manner. Occasional evening and/or weekend work may be required. Masters degree preferred. Experience working in higher education and/or an intercollegiate athletic environment preferred. Knowledge of the laws, policies, rules and regulations governing the University, the Big Ten Conference and the National Collegiate Athletic Association (“the NCAA”).
