COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland volleyball team opens the 2016 season with the Maryland Invite this Friday and Saturday in the XFINITY Center Pavilion.
• The Terps host Delaware State, Eastern Michigan and Sacred Heart in the opening weekend of the year. Maryland faces Eastern Michigan on Friday at 7 p.m. before taking on Delaware State on Saturday at 10 a.m. and Sacred Heart that evening at 7 p.m.
• Maryland is 28-17 (.622) all-time in season openers, and is currently on a four-match win streak in season openers.
• The Terps' matches vs. Eastern Michigan and Sacred Heart will be streamed on BTN Plus.
• Parking lot 4b will be open for fans on both Friday and Saturday for all matches. Move-in weekend will be taking place for the university, so fans should arrive early and anticipate traffic.

• Friday and Saturday are Camp Reunion Days. All 2016 Maryland volleyball campers will receive free admission.
• Friday is also the first time fans can receive the 2016 Maryland poster series. The team will sign autographs following the match.
• Saturday is Social Media Day. Fans are encouraged to follow Maryland Volleyball on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for their chance to win prizes throughout the match.

Scouting the delaware state hornets
• Delaware State posted a 3-25 overall record in 2015 and a 1-11 record in MEAC play.
• Middle blocker Jae Jackson is the team's top returning attacker and posted 1.55 kills per set in 2015. Libero Allyah McBean made 3.68 digs per set last season.
• This is the first all-time meeting between the Hornets and the Terps.
Scouting the eastern michigan eagles
• Eastern Michigan finished the 2015 season with a 14-16 record, including 6-10 in MAC play.
• The Eagles lost five of their starters from last season. Sophomore Cassie Haut is the team's top returning hitter, putting up 2.04 kills per set last year. Eastern Michigan returns setter Mallory Rajewski, who put up 6.73 assists per set last season.
• Maryland is 0-1 all-time vs. Eastern Michigan.
Scouting the sacred heart pioneers
• Sacred Heart finished the 2015 season with a 15-14 record and a 9-5 record in the NEC.
• The Pioneers return Sarah Krufka, who was the NEC Player of the Year last season after posting 3.88 kills per set. Sacred Heart was selected to finish fourth in the NEC this season.
• Maryland is 0-1 all-time vs. Sacred Heart.
Terps Rising
• The Maryland volleyball team welcomes the 16th-ranked freshman class in the nation this fall, the first time in program history the Terps have a ranked recruiting class.
• Outside hitter Gia Milana was ranked as the No. 15 player in her class by PrepVolleyball, the highest ranked recruit in Maryland history. Middle blocker Katie Myers ranked No. 62, and the duo were also named to Volleyball Magazine's Fab 50 list. Milana is Maryland's first-ever Under Armour First Team All-American while Myers was named a Third Team All-American.
• The 2015 Maryland Gatorade Player of the Year outside hitter Megan McTigue joins the Terps, as well as setter Taylor Smith, mentioned in PrepVolleyball's 'The 150'. Defensive specialist Nell Drummey and outside hitter Aylin Saran bring international experience to Maryland.

• The Terps have five players on the roster from the DMV (DC, Maryland, Virginia): junior middle blocker Hailey Murray (Washington, D.C.), junior defensive specialist Samantha Higginbothem (Middletown, Md.), sophomore outside hitter Liz Twilley (Ijamsville, Md.), freshman defensive specialist Nell Drummey (Silver Spring, Md.) and freshman outside hitter Megan McTigue (Darnestown, Md.).
• The Terrapins feature the last two Maryland Gatorade Players of the Year in Twilley and McTigue.
• Murray, Higginbothem, Drummey and McTigue all played club for Metro American Volleyball Club. McTigue and Drummey were high school teammates at Academy of Holy Cross.
Maryland announces 2016 broadcast schedule
• The Terps have released its 2016 broadcast and streaming schedule, with the Terps slated to have at least 16 matches featured on Big Ten Network platforms.
• The Terrapins will compete on the Big Ten Network twice, including hosting Ohio State on Oct. 26 and at Purdue on Nov. 2.

• Maryland will play 17 matches against 12 teams ranked or receiving votes in the preseason AVCA Coaches Poll.
• The Terps will take on four of the top-five team and seven of the top 10, including No. 1 Nebraska, No. 3 Minnesota, No. 4 Wisconsin, No. 5 Kansas, T-No. 7 Washington, T-No. 7 USC and No. 9 Penn State.
