COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Junior middle blocker Hailey Murray and freshman outside hitter Gia Milana each had eight kills as the Maryland volleyball team (2-0) defeated Delaware State (0-2), 3-0, Saturday morning in the XFINITY Center Pavilion. The Terps won by set scores of 25-14, 25-15, 25-5.

Murray posting a .538 hitting percentage while making three blocks (1BS, 2BA). Milana added four service aces and seven digs while senior middle blocker Ashlyn MacGregor had four kills and five blocks (1BS, 4BA). Sophomore libero Kelsey Wicinski notched 12 digs and three service aces.

The Terps were excellent from the service line, making 10 aces against the Hornets. After making just three blocks in last night's match against Eastern Michigan, Maryland put up nine team blocks this morning.

The Terrapins' 25-5 third set win is the largest game win in program history in the rally scoring era.

After a slow start to set one, kills from Murray and sophomore opposite Angel Gaskin helped pull the Terps even, 6-6. Maryland was able to capitalize on Delaware State errors, and MacGregor and Murray made key kills in the middle to push the Terrapins ahead. Freshman setter Taylor Smith served an ace and sophomore outside hitter Liz Twilley put down a kill to push Maryland ahead, 19-9. Murray made two straight kills and Wicinski served an ace to close the set, 25-14.

The Terps went on a 13-3 run to start set two, led by three straight aces from Milana. The Hornets pulled within 15-7 before MacGregor had two blocks Maryland. A Murray solo block again pushed the Terps ahead by 10, 23-13. Gaskin made a kill to finish the set, 25-15.

Maryland dispatched Delaware State in the third set, 25-5, including a 12-0 run by the Terps. After the Hornets stopped the Maryland offense with a kill, Wicinski served an ace and led the Terrapins on another run to close the set. MacGregor made a solo block, and another Wicinski ace helped push the Terps to match point. A DSU attack error gave Maryland the match win.

The Terps compete in their final match of the Maryland Invite tonight at 7 p.m. against Sacred Heart. The match will be streamed live on BTN Plus.
