
Terps Boast Fast Start at Mercedes-Benz Collegiate

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - The Maryland women's golf team had a stellar start to the 2016-17campaign as it wrapped up the first and second rounds of the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate in fourth place Monday at the Cherokee Country Club.
Freshman Xialin Tian shot a team-low 69 in the first round and followed that with a 71 in the second to lead the Terps in sixth place heading into the third round Tuesday morning.
Sophomore Ludovica Farina went 73-70 to tie for 10th place while senior Panitta Yusabai is the third Terp to be in the top 25 heading into day two with a 71-74.
Ludovica Scandroglio (72-75) sits tied for 35th while senior transfer Lauren Salazar is tied for 69th (77-78).
The Terps sit five strokes behind No. 7-ranked Florida in the team standings heading into tomorrow's 9 a.m. start. Maryland is currently ahead of nationally-ranked foes No. 13 Wake Forest and No. 28 North Carolina.
