The Development Coordinator will serve as an office manager by developing and managing the day to day operations and actively coordinate, guide, and support the cultivation, solicitation and stewardship activities conducted by the Senior Associate AD/Chief Development Officer, the Director of Administration and Finance and the Development Officers.
The Development Coordinator will manage “up” to support all colleagues with assignments through the performance of high-level tasks that help ensure the success of the fundraising efforts on behalf of Maryland's student-athletes and also directs activities in support of the team's mission. This includes, but is not limited to, managing direct mail efforts, coordinating outgoing telephone calls and maintaining call lists, managing the stewardship thank you program and maintenance strategies, collaborating on special programming, event planning, social media campaigns, annual giving programs, major gift initiatives, and budget management as well as evaluating, tracking, database entry, and producing written and data reports on major gift donors and prospects to assess progress against goals, s/he will establish and cultivate working relationships, to enhance the effectiveness of communication between the Development unit and internal and external constituencies. The Development Coordinator will perform other duties as assigned.
The Development Coordinator will coordinate and manage the 2-3 million dollar suite operations for high-end suite holders in the university's 66 suites located at the Tyser Tower (football and lacrosse), and 20 suites at the XFINITY Center (men's and women's basketball, gymnastics, volleyball and wrestling) ensuring accurate and timely fulfillment of all contractual benefits due to suite holders by initiating and facilitating the coordination of services from the Athletic Ticket Office, Facilities and Operations, Dining Services, Maryland Sports Properties, and the Terrapin Club staff and then confirming the execution of such; work in collaboration and cooperation with the Associate Director for Annual Giving on suite related responsibilities and the troubleshooting of all matters as they may arise; and coordinate with the Facilities and Operations staff on non-game day use of suites for all suite holders.
With a strong knowledge of Paciolan and Advance database systems, the Development Coordinator will create, compile, and generate reports and then analyze to monitor the checks and balances and strategy proposals of all development functions and patterns, as well as other technological resources necessary for the success of the Athletic Department Development Office. The Development Coordinator will perform other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and education. Two (2) to four (4) years of experience working in an administrative, customer service, marketing, and/or development related environment.
Experience managing projects with minimal supervision, including fundraising presentations.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to set priorities, and handle multiple assignments and deadlines while maintaining a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while establishing and cultivating working relationships with internal and external customers in a courteous, efficient and professional manner.
Exercise good judgement while operating in a flexible and professional manner; able to handle sensitive matters with discretion and absolute confidentiality. Occasional evening and/or weekend work may be required. Expertise in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power-Point preferred.
Strong knowledge and understanding of databases to include Paciolan and Advance database systems preferred; ability to manipulate excel files to organize large numbers of records.
Possess excellent organizational, analytical and writing skills along with experience in scheduling and managing intern and student staff with performing multiple projects and tasks preferred.
Knowledge of the rules and regulations governing the University, the Big Ten Conference and the National Collegiate Athletic Association (the “NCAA”) preferred.
