COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland volleyball team (5-1) travels to the nation's capital for the Georgetown Classic this Friday and Saturday.
•The Terps will face Princeton (2-1), Towson (6-1) and Georgetown (2-4). Maryland will take on the Princeton Tigers on Friday at 7 p.m. before competing against the Towson Tigers at 1 p.m. and Hoyas at 5 p.m. on Saturday.
• Maryland's match versus Georgetown will be streamed through GUHoyas.com.
terps go 2-1 at kansas invitational
• The Terps earned wins over Arkansas and Chicago State at the Kansas Invitational last weekend.
• Maryland suffered its first loss of the season to No. 4 Kansas in a hard-fought three-set loss.
• Senior middle blocker Ashlyn MacGregor and sophomore libero Kelsey Wicinski were named to the all-tournament team.
Scouting the princeton tigers
• The Tigers (2-1) began their season last weekend, taking wins over Campbell and San Francisco before falling to Indiana
• Princeton is led offensively by senior Brittany Ptak, who is averaging 4.10 kills per set on a .464 hitting percentage. Four Tigers are averaging 2.00 digs per set or more.
• Maryland is 14-2 all-time vs. Princeton. This is the first meeting for the teams since the Terps won on Dec. 5, 1997.
Scouting the towson tigers
• The Tigers (6-1) competed in the Seton Hall Tournament last weekend, suffering their first loss of the season to the host team.
• Junior Jessica Lewis, a 2015 First Team All-CAA pick, leads Towson with 3.94 kills per set and 0.56 aces per set. The Tigers hold a 13.14-6.82 advantage in kills over their opponents.
• The Terps are 23-3 all-time vs. the Tigers. Towson won the last meeting on Sept. 4, 2009.
Scouting the georgetown hoyas
• The Hoyas (2-4) went 1-2 at the Stetson/USF Invitational last weekend, losing to Florida Atlantic and Western Carolina before defeating Stetson.
• Sophomore Alyssa Sinnette leads Georgetown with 3.78 kills per set while sophomore PAige McKnight leads the team with 10.17 assists per set and 0.35 aces per set.
• Maryland is 42-15 all-time vs. Georgetown. The Terps won the last meeting on Sept. 4, 2010.
Terps Rising
• The Maryland volleyball team welcomes the 16th-ranked freshman class in the nation this fall, the first time in program history the Terps have a ranked recruiting class.
• Outside hitter Gia Milana was ranked as the No. 15 player in her class by PrepVolleyball, the highest ranked recruit in Maryland history. Middle blocker Katie Myers ranked No. 62, and the duo were also named to Volleyball Magazine's Fab 50 list. Milana is Maryland's first-ever Under Armour First Team All-American while Myers was named a Third Team All-American.
• The 2015 Maryland Gatorade Player of the Year outside hitter Megan McTigue joins the Terps, as well as setter Taylor Smith, mentioned in PrepVolleyball's 'The 150'. Defensive specialist Nell Drummey and outside hitter Aylin Saran bring international experience to Maryland.

• The Terps have five players on the roster from the DMV (DC, Maryland, Virginia): junior middle blocker Hailey Murray (Washington, D.C.), junior defensive specialist Samantha Higginbothem (Middletown, Md.), sophomore outside hitter Liz Twilley (Ijamsville, Md.), freshman defensive specialist Nell Drummey (Silver Spring, Md.) and freshman outside hitter Megan McTigue (Darnestown, Md.).
• The Terrapins feature the last two Maryland Gatorade Players of the Year in Twilley and McTigue.
• Murray, Higginbothem, Drummey and McTigue all played club for Metro American Volleyball Club. McTigue and Drummey were high school teammates at Academy of Holy Cross.
Macgregor named b1g defensive player of the week
• Senior middle blocker Ashlyn MacGregor was named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week last week.
• MacGregor made a career-high 14 blocks in the team's win over Sacred Heart. Through three matches, she is averaging 2.33 blocks per set.
• The Tarpon Springs, Fla., native is Maryland's first-ever Defensive Player of the Week honoree in the Big Ten.
Maryland announces 2016 broadcast schedule
• The Terps have released its 2016 broadcast and streaming schedule, with the Terps slated to have at least 16 matches featured on Big Ten Network platforms.
• The Terrapins will compete on the Big Ten Network twice, including hosting Ohio State on Oct. 26 and at Purdue on Nov. 2.

• Maryland will play 17 matches against 12 teams ranked or receiving votes in the preseason AVCA Coaches Poll.
• The Terps will take on four of the top-five team and seven of the top 10, including No. 1 Nebraska, No. 3 Minnesota, No. 4 Wisconsin, No. 5 Kansas, T-No. 7 Washington, T-No. 7 USC and No. 9 Penn State.
