COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Freshman Alecia Farina posted career highs on vault and uneven bars, tying for the bars event title, as the Maryland gymnastics team went 1-2 at the Terrapins' quad meet Saturday.

The Terps posted a 192.350, picking up their first win of the season over Alaska-Anchorage (188.175) and falling to Arizona (193.225) and Minnesota (194.900).

"Today was tough in a few areas, but I thought there were bright spots," head coach Brett Nelligan said. "Vault overall was improved. I thought Alecia was great. Last week, she was nervous as a freshman, but I think she's showing what she's capable of."

Freshman Kirsten Peterman notched a 9.725 while Farina tallied a 9.750. Seniors Emily Brauckmuller and Sarah Faller posted 9.775s, which tied for fourth at the meet.

Farina anchored bars with a 9.850, which tied for the event title. Faller led off with a 9.775 and sophomore Amanda Bertorello set a new career high with a 9.750. Junior Evelyn Nee impressed with a 9.775. The Terps finished the event with a 48.025 team score.

Maryland faltered on beam, but Nee proved a bright spot with a 9.825. Junior Dominiquea Trotter tallied a 9.625 on the apparatus. The Terps scored a 47.500 in the event.

The Terps finished the meet strong as the second half of the Maryland floor lineup posted big scores. Senior Leah Slobodin tallied a 9.750. Bertorello set another personal best with a 9.800 and Brauckmuller anchored the event with a 9.825. Maryland notched a 48.150 on the apparatus.
