COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland gymnastics team officially opens the 2017 season against No. 29 West Virginia on Sunday at 1 p.m. The Terps will compete simultaneously with the Maryland wrestling team in the programs' annual Beauty and the Beast meet.
• The Terps' meet vs. West Virginia will be streamed live on BTN Plus. Live results will be available here.
• Admission to all gymnastics meets is free.
saturday promos
• Saturday is Hometown Heroes Day. All local police, fire, EMTs, and military are invited to attend the meet and be honored in a special ceremony prior to the meet on the floor.
• All local scout troops are invited to attend the meet for Girl Scout Day and participate in team introductions with the Terps. Scouts (8th grade and under) will receive a Maryland Athletics patch!
• Saturday is Senior Citizen Day. Local retirement communities are encouraged to attend the meet and spend the day with the Terps.
• The Terps will host an autograph session following the meet, as well as a Tumble Talk Q&A with all fans aged 8 and under on the floor. Before the meet, fans can make posters, take photos, meet Maryland cheerleaders and receive temporary tattoos to gear up for the meet.

FAller, Farina named b1g gymnasts to watch
• Senior Sarah Faller and freshman Alecia Farina were selected as Maryland's Big Ten Gymnasts to Watch in December.
• Faller has been a consistent performer for the Terps since her first season, competing on vault, bars and beam. Last season, Faller set a new career-high with a 9.850 on bars and tied a career high 9.800 on beam. The Raleigh, N.C., native is a two-time Big Ten All-Academic selection.
• Farina is a member of one of Maryland's strongest freshmen classes to date. She was the only gymnast in Ohio high school history to earn a perfect 10.0 on vault, which she did three times. Farina finished second on floor, 10th on vault and 23rd in the all-around at the 2016 U.S. Junior Olympic National Championship.
• The Terps were picked to finish ninth in the Big Ten preseason coaches poll.

TERPS POST STRONG SHOWING IN RED-BLACK
• The Maryland gymnastics team posted consistent routines in the team's annual Red-Black instrasquad scrimmage last month. The Red team defeated the Black squad, 187.800-186.600.
• Freshman Alecia Farina posted a strong all-around performance in her first meet as a Terp. Farina anchored vault, bars and floor for the Red team and tied for the highest score on each apparatus.
• Seniors Sarah Faller and Emily Brauckmuller impressed in the scrimmage, while the freshman class put up strong performances in their first time in Maryland leos.
