COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland volleyball team (14-8, 3-7 B1G) returns to the XFINITY Center Pavilion to host Indiana (12-10, 1-9) and No. 17 Purdue (16-5, 6-4) this weekend.
The Terps will take on the Hoosiers on Friday at 7 p.m. Friday is Faculty/Staff Appreciation Night and UMD faculty and staff may claim up to four complimentary general admission tickets to the match for themselves and members of their immediate families. Terrapin Club members at the Bronze level or higher will receive free admission.
Maryland hosts the Boilermakers on Sunday at 1 p.m. The Terps will have an autograph session and kids court following the match and it's Girl Scout Day. Due to a women's basketball exhibition, a Clear Bag Policy will be in effect for all volleyball fans.
The Terrapins fell to No. 9 Wisconsin and No. 10 Michigan State last week. Indiana and Rutgers are coming off 1-1 weeks with each team getting a win over Rutgers and a loss to No. 1 Penn State. Maryland swept Indiana in Bloomington earlier this season while this is the only meeting between the Terps and Boilers this year.
Sophomore outside hitter Gia Milana leads the Terps for the second straight season offensively. She is currently averaging 3.16 kills per set. Freshman outside hitter Erika Pritchard currently leads the Big Ten with 0.52 service aces per set. The Middletown, Md., native has served at least one ace in seven straight matches.
Maryland went 11-1 in nonconference play, the team's best showing in nonconference play since going 8-1 in 2007. The Terps began the season with 10 straight wins, the best start to a season for the program since 2005.
