COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland volleyball team (16-12, 5-11 Big Ten) returns to the XFINITY Center Pavilion to host Iowa (17-12, 6-10) and No. 5 Nebraska (22-4, 15-1) this weekend. The Terps take on the Hawkeyes on Friday at 7 p.m. and the Huskers on Saturday at 6 p.m.
Due to a men's basketball game on Saturday, the Maryland-Nebraska match will have a Clear Bag Policy in place. All parking lots around the XFINITY Center will be available only with a men's basketball parking permit. Fans are encouraged to arrive early and park for free in Lot 1 or purchase a spot in Stadium Drive Garage. Shuttles from Lot 1 to the XFINITY Center will begin running at 4:30 p.m. For more info on basketball gameday parking, including shuttle routes, or to purchase a parking permit, click here.
The Terps are coming off their toughest stretch of the season as Maryland traveled to four top-10 opponents over the last two weeks. The Terrapins' match against Nebraska this weekend is the team's fifth contest against a top-10 program this month alone.
Iowa is led offensively by Taylor Lous with 3.47 kills per set. The Hawkeyes lost to No. 1 Penn Statea and beat Ohio State last week. This is the first and only meeting between the teams this year.
Nebraska is on a nine-match win streak. The Huskers are led by Mikaela Foecke, who is averaging 3.52 kills per set. Briana Holman and Lauren Stivrins have 1.07 and 1.01 blocks per set, respectively.
Last week, Maryland announced the signing of 6-foot-3 middle blocker Rainelle Jones to the 2018 roster. The No. 32 recruit in her class, Jones has two years of experience with the U.S. National Team development program.
Maryland has already hit numerous program milestones in 2017. The Terps have upset two top-25 teams, earning the program's first-ever wins over Southern California and Purdue. The Terrapins began the season with 10 straight wins, the best start to a season for the program since 2005. Head coach Steve Aird has led Maryland to 16 wins so far this year, the most for him as the head of a program.
