Hey Terp Fans!
Your GymTerps are coming off an amazing weekend of competition! We started the weekend off on Friday night at George Washington. Not only did we pick up two wins and surpass the 195 mark, we had some new career highs! Freshman Morgan Bixler stuck her vault solid and scored a 9.9 and another freshie, Alecia Farina, also picked up a 9.9 on bars! This meet was also extra special for me, when I scored a 9.925 on beam, my career high from any event in my career. I was so proud of our team and the freshman that stepped up and scored big for us. But I knew we weren't done yet!
Saturday we got back in the gym for a walkthrough to get our bodies moving and to visualize our routines for the following day. Double weekends are great because if you didn't like something from Friday's meet, you get another chance on Sunday to make it perfect.
Sunday morning I woke up knowing it was going to be a special day. It was Senior Night. I knew this day would come eventually, but I didn't imagine just how fast my college career would fly by. I couldn't believe it was actually here. Leah, Emily, and I got such an outpouring of love through texts and cards from our past teammates, coaches, and family. I was already emotional and the meet hadn't even started yet!
Sunday we took on Kentucky, William and Mary, and Penn. Senior Night is always a special night, because it's a time we all compete with our hearts and let our emotions drive us to success. I knew after the first rotation, on vault, that it was going to be a great night.
And it was. We placed second, and were only .375 away from beating the ninth-ranked school in the country. We also hit 24 for 24 and surpassed the 195 mark once again. Throughout the whole weekend, we grasped 5 event titles, 11 Top 3 finishes, 10 career highs, 14 season highs, team highs on vault and floor and are now 29th in the nation!
After awards, we had our senior ceremony, accompanied by our families. We couldn't have asked for a better day to honor our time at this amazing school. Thank you to everyone who has supported us and this incredible team.
But we aren't done yet! We are back in action in Philly this Friday! Hope everyone has a great week! GO TERPS!
Much love,
Sarah
