Hey Terp Fans!
Your GymTerps were on fire this past weekend. We started off with three big wins competing against Temple, Southern Connecticut, and West Chester in Philadelphia. We started the meet off strong on bars and beam, but floor was the spark to our entire weekend. We had some new career highs again this big weekend! Sophomore Amanda Bertorello, stuck all her landings in her routine to earn a score of 9.9 and senior Leah Slobodin, also picked up a 9.9 on her floor! I picked up a career high on floor with a 9.925 and on beam with a 9.625.
Not only did the GymTerps have some individual team highs, but we also tied for our third highest floor score in school history with a 49.450! After this exciting day of competing we woke up Saturday morning to do some fun site seeing in our assistant coach Evan Eigner's hometown. Saturday we had an exciting day of visiting the Rocky steps where the movie was made.
After we got some cool pictures of the team running the steps we were on our way to West Virginia. On our way to the meet we knew it was going to be an early day on Sunday so a lot of us got some homework done and caught up on some sleep.
Sunday we competed against West Virginia and Iowa State. For the first time this season the GymTerps started on beam and we did amazing! We posted our highest beam team score of the season with a 49.975. There were a few new faces in the beam lineup this weekend, sophomore Shynelle Agaran, and myself. I was so proud of Shynelle for her outstanding performance and scoring a 9.8. After posting our high score on beam we moved to floor and had another outstanding performance to score another high 48.
To say the least the GymTerps are getting better and better each week. We have posted six 195 scores now. But we aren't done yet! We are back in Xfinity on Wednesday, March 1st for our annual PRIDE MEET!!! Go Terps!
Much love,
Alecia
