COLLEGE PARK, Md. – After leading the top-ranked Maryland women's lacrosse team to a win over No. 5 Penn State, midfielders Kali Hartshorn and Zoe Stukenberg earned weekly honors Tuesday. Hartshorn was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week and ILWomen's National Rookie of the Week while Stukenberg earned Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week honors.
Against the Nittany Lions, Hartshorn scored four goals and also had one assist, two ground balls and four draw controls. In the last four games, she has scored 19 goals. This is the fifth time Hartshorn has earned Big Ten honors and the third time she's earned ILWomen accolades.
Stukenberg tallied her second straight defensive player of the week honors after tying a career high with three caused turnovers and notching two ground balls vs. Penn State. She also posted two goals and tied a career high with four assists. Stukenberg is the only field player this season to earn Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week honors.
The Terps finish the regular season at No. 15 Northwestern (9-7, 4-1) next Thursday, April 27, on the Big Ten Network. A win over the Wildcats would give Maryland the Big Ten regular season title outright.
