
Terps Mourn Loss of Hotsy Alperstein

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The University of Maryland Department of Athletics mourns the loss of UMD Athletic Hall of Fame member and long-time supporter Hotsy Alperstein, who passed away at the age of 98 on Sunday.
Alperstein captained the Terrapin boxing team for three years and lost only one dual meet match in four years. He was a finalist in the Southern and Eastern Intercollegiate Tournaments and is a member of the D.C. and Maryland Boxing Hall of Fame. He graduated from Maryland in 1943.
A former chairman of the AAU, Alperstein was inducted into the Maryland Athletics Hall of Fame in 1990. He donated to Maryland Athletics for 61 years and was a past Terrapin Club president.
