
Terps Begin Big Ten Play at Rutgers Sunday

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland women's soccer team is set for a Big Ten showdown with No. 13 Rutgers Sunday afternoon. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. and fans can watch the contest on BTN Plus.

Sweeping the Nonconference
Maryland took down William & Mary, 1-0, last Thursday to complete an undefeated nonconference slate for the first time since 2011. Madison Turner scored the lone goal for the Terps, who defended well down the stretch to secure the victory.
The Terps have outscored opponents 12-4 over their first seven matches. Maryland had given up 14 goals through seven games last season.
Maryland is off to its best start since the 2011 season.
Turning the Corner
After a 2016 season where she played every field position, senior Madison Turner has settled into an attacking role this seaosn. The South Bend, Ind., has two goals this season after not scoring last season. Turner also leads the Terps with 21 shots.
Three Terps Named Big Ten Players to Watch
Madison Turner, Jarena Harmon and Jlon Flippens were named Big Ten Player to Watch prior to the season.
Turner started all 19 matches in 2016 and notched two assists. The senior, who started games at forward, in the midfield and along the backline last season, is expected to once again help the Terps in a variety of positions on the field.
Harmon, a junior, was Maryland's second leading scorer in 2016 with eight goals and combined with Chelsea Jackson as one of the top scoring tandems in the conference. The Washington D.C., native also added one assist over her 16 starts.
Flippens burst onto the scene as a freshman last year, recording a team high in minutes played (1763) and starting all 19 matches. She led the Terps with four assists and also added a goal.
Action Jackson
Senior forward Chelsea Jackson returns for her senior campaign after leading the Terps in scoring a team-high nine goals with two assists. She was second on the team in shots with 33. Jackson already has two goals this season.
Including Jackson's tallies, Maryland returns 20 of its 21 goals from the 2016 season.
