LANCASTER, Pa. -- Redshirt junior Patrick Gerish captured his second championship of the 2017-18 season after taking home first place at the F&M Open on Saturday.
Gerish posted a 5-0 record, including two wins by major decision and another by fall. He closed out his run with a pair of decisions and won his championship bout over Bryce Rogers (Brown) by a score of 6-0. Gerish won the Cleveland State Open title earlier this season and was named Big Ten Wrestler of the Week in recognition of his success.
Phil Spadafora also had a good day for the Terrapins, earning a fourth-place finish in the 165-pound bracket. Spadafora went 4-2 on the day, including an opening round technical fall victory.
Due to a match limit, many Maryland wrestlers could not compete in their consolation semifinal matches.
