COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Redshirt senior goalkeeper Rachel Egyed was named a Third Team All-Big Ten selection in a release made by the conference offices Friday. This is the second consecutive All-B1G selection for Egyed, who also garnered third team honors last season.
Egyed put together another spectacular season in the net for the Terps, as she tied for the lead in the conference in total saves (93) and saves per game (5.20). Her 97 saves ranked 27th in the nation as of October 26. She also finished with the second best save percentage (.830) among Big Ten goalies, while posting three shutouts on the season.
She earned Big Ten Goalkeeper of the Week honors on September 11, when she helped the Terps stay unbeaten in two non-conference contests. The Clifton, N.J. native made eight stops in UMD's 1-1 draw with UCF in double overtime on September 6, then came back and made seven saves on September 9 vs. George Washington to earn her second shutout of the season.
Egyed put together a career day against Michigan on October 18 with a career-high 12 saves – the most by a Maryland goalie since the 2006 season.
Egyed finishes her Maryland career ninth of the all-time list in goals against average (1.45), seventh in total saves (222) and eighth in goalie minutes played (4106:29).
